Q: Do I have to keep my Workers' Compensation Medical Certificate up to date if I am not able to attend an appointment because of COVID-19?

A: Yes, you are required to have a current Certificate of Capacity. If you are unable to attend an appointment please contact your medical provider regarding telehealth services. Your Certificate of Capacity can be valid for a maximum of 28 days, unless there are special reasons for the certificate to cover a longer period. If you believe special circumstances apply to you, contact your LGIS Claims Consultant to discuss your own circumstances.

Q: If my work has to close down due to COVID-19, will I be covered for lost wages? If I choose to not attend work due to COVID-19, will I be covered for wages?

A: If you currently have an accepted Workers' Compensation claim, your wages may be covered if your employer can no longer provide you with work. LGIS will continue to support you in your rehabilitation and recovery. Please contact your LGIS Claims Consultant to discuss your own circumstances.

If you do not have an accepted Workers' Compensation claim, please discuss your leave options with your employer.

Q: What happens if my employer can no longer accommodate suitable duties in the workplace?

A: Your employer and LGIS Injury Management Consultant will work together to identify suitable duties either in the workplace or at home. If no duties are available you will be unable to work but will continue to receive support in you rehabilitation and recovery.

Many providers are offering telehealth services that can limit/prevent travel and exposure time. Please talk with your providers, your employer or your LGIS Injury Management Consultant regarding your own circumstances.
