Injury Management

Injury management is a workplace managed process to enable the efficient and cost effective return to suitable employment of an injured worker. The process requires involvement from the injured worker, the treating medical practitioner and the employer.

Pro-active injury management requires good communication between all key parties, focusing on early intervention and early return to work.

An Injury Management Policy and Procedure Manual was developed by LGIS WorkCare in response to WorkCover WA’s legal compliance requirement that all self-insured bodies meet a minimum standard in injury management.

The ‘TEAMS’ project was designed to assist all Local Governments establish an injury management process by the introduction of a package containing the Injury Management Policy Procedure Manual, together with other training and support materials to ensure an effective return to work injury management plan is established..

The Scheme is committed to supporting all Local Governments in the development and implementation of best practice injury management.
