A little about us
One of the value-added services of the self-insurance scheme that LGIS provides to our client organisations is the Human Resources Risk Management Consulting services [HRRM]. Our team consists of experienced HR professionals, psychologists who specialise in organisational psychology and counsellors. HRRM services provide assistance to Local Governments to help minimise HR-related risks and reduce stress-related workers compensation claims.
Recognising that prevention is better than a cure, our team can assist you to be proactive in managing and developing people in your organisation. With our expertise and experience in HR and Organisational Development, we will work with the key people in your organisation to detect potential “hot-spots” and stressors and then implement preventive and targeted strategies to address them.

Stress Audit

The HR Risk Management team collect information from interviews, focus groups and a stress audit questionnaire to gain an insight into organisational factors that may cause harmful stress to your workplace and employees. The HRRM team provides counselling support to prevent and reduce stress levels for individuals and groups caused by both work-related or personal issues. Some of the most common “stressors” are work pressure, conflict, difficult relationships, low workplace morale, bullying and harassment and other life events. We also offer support to staff following critical incidents and traumatic events.

The HRRM team provides a variety of training workshops that are aimed at building the capacity of your organisation. Our team does not have a ‘one size fits all’ policy to training. We take into account the individual nature of your organisation and tailor our training to suit your needs. | Customer Service | Customer facing roles can be one of the more stressful positions in local government. The HR Risk Management team can provide techniques for dealing with difficult customers and handling difficult conversations. Your employees will also learn how to effectively communicate with both internal and external customers. |
| Effective Communication | This training helps employees to understand and take note of their own perceptions and subtleties in communication such as tone and non-verbal behaviour. Employees who attend this training will also learn about the importance of non-verbal communication and how to align it with verbal communication. |
| Emotional Intelligence | Increased emotional intelligence will improve interactions between employees, with community and team members. This training focuses on understanding and reading social norms, self awareness, and regulating their own emotions. It will help improve the interactions between all members of your organisation so that understanding is increased, stress is minimised, and interactions between employees is improved. |
| Fitness for Work | This training package outlines the short term and long impact of alcohol, drugs and fatigue on the individual and team trust, respect, and performance. They will learn what their responsibilities are and what duty of care the organisation has to their employees. |
| Management Skills | Different levels of management require varying levels of training. Therefore our team tailors training packages to suit the needs of Supervisors, Managers and Directors. We offer a variety of packages that cover leadership, communication techniques, the balance between being an assertive and a nice guy, working with difficult employees and much more. |
| Performance Management & Feedback | Some managers find it difficult giving meaningful feedback and are unsure about how they should approach difficult issues in a constructive way. Attendees will learn how to provide effective and timely constructive feedback, while understanding how the Performance Management System operates in your organisation. |
| Stress Management | Stress affects everyone in an organisation and impacts turnover, productivity, conflict, absenteeism and many more factors. Managing and reducing your own or other's stress is important. Our team provide a number of packages that help staff recognise the factors that increase stress. These packages also enable staff to reduce, manage, heal and recover from stressful incidents to maximise their health and well-being. |
| Brain Based Safety | This program makes use of well established understanding of the brain's strengths and limitations to devlop new ways of improving workplace safety. The mind has certain limitations that could influence safety behaviours that are not covered in regular safety training. These limitations are addressed by exploring how the brain works. The program provides a range of strategies to improve our ‘presense of mind’, the degree of ‘attention’ we have at any one time in order to maintain of our health and wellbeing. |
