LGIS has partnered with the Health Insurance Fund of WA (HIF) to create an exciting, new health insurance scheme to provide local government employees with special rates on quality health cover, via a payroll deduction facility.

HIF is a not-for-profit Western Australian health fund that has been committed to providing its members with better benefits and excellent service for more than 50 years

All WA Local Government employees can join or transfer to LGIS Health for their health insurance, which offers:

Special rates on quality health cover (8% discount off standard rates);

Choice of 4 different levels of hospital cover and 4 different levels of ancillary cover to suit your needs, lifestyle and budget;

Great benefits, including up to 80% of dental fees for many of the most common dental services; and

Opportunity to avoid paying the Medicare Levy surcharge and Lifetime Health Cover loading

Health On The Move

The health of proposed and existing employees has a direct bearing on workplace issues such as absenteeism, injuries and productivity. With this in mind, LGIS, in conjunction with Health on the Move has been providing value-adding health and wellbeing services as benefits of LGIS WorkCare Scheme membership since 1996.

The range of these services provided through Health On The Move has expanded into a comprehensive range to suit all needs, interests and budgets including: Onsite Health Assessments, Executive Health Assessments, Melanoma Screenings, Pre-employment Medicals, Injury Prevention and Training.

Funding is allocated by LGIS amongst LGIS Scheme member Councils on a financial year basis, which Councils can supplement with their own budgetary or experience bonus allocation to enable more staff to benefit from the services.
